Chiropractic Care That Runs in the Family
With both his uncle and grandfather practising as chiropractors, Dr Flynn Pettersson (Chiropractor) experienced firsthand the benefits of chiropractic care while growing up playing football and cricket, using it for injury recovery and injury prevention long before he ever considered it as a career.
He didn’t just feel the physical results. Flynn watched two family members build careers they genuinely loved, working hours they chose and becoming a positive part of their communities. That example stayed with him. He initially began a degree in physics and mathematics, but found it lacked the human connection he was looking for. After a year, and following his growing interest in physiology and anatomy, Flynn made the switch to chiropractic at Macquarie University in Sydney.
An Individually Focused Approach to Care
If there’s one thing Flynn wants every prospective patient to know, it’s that care here is individually tailored. There is no single approach that works for everyone, and Flynn takes the time to listen, assess, and build a plan around each person rather than applying a standard formula.
That approach has been shaped by experience. Early in his career, like most new graduates, Flynn says he treated chiropractic almost like a formula: a straightforward case of cause and effect. Years of working with different people changed that. He’s learned that individuals present differently, respond differently, and come in with different goals, and that understanding the person in front of him matters just as much as understanding the condition.
Flynn also believes in taking the time to investigate concerns properly rather than making assumptions. If something doesn’t fit the expected pattern, he’s comfortable recommending further assessment or referring to another healthcare provider to help patients get the answers they need.
Flynn is also comfortable working as part of a broader healthcare team. Many of his patients also see physiotherapists, osteopaths, or other allied health providers, and he sees no issue with that. Collaborative, multidisciplinary care is simply part of how he practises.

Friendly, positive, and genuinely invested are words Flynn uses to describe the vibe of his practice, and patients tend to agree. He enjoys getting to know the people he cares for, not just their presenting issue but their lives, their families, and what’s going on for them more broadly. That connection, built over months and years with many patients, is one of the things he values most about the work.

Life Outside the Practice
When he’s not at the clinic, Flynn is a committed St Kilda Football Club supporter, travelling interstate for games whenever he can. He’s passionate about language learning, enjoys travel, goes to the gym regularly, and can usually be found walking the dog with his husband. Flynn is married to a Japanese man, speaks Japanese, and lived in Japan for several years, an experience that often surprises new patients when it comes up in conversation.
